Iván Castiñeiras
I was born in Galicia, Spain, I obtained a degree in History of Art at the University of Santiago de Compostela (U.S.C.), and in Cinema at the National School of Cinema in Portugal (E.S.T.C.). My work as a film-maker is halfway between documentary and fiction, tackling issues such as territory, the memory, geographical borders and their associated socio-political issues.
My films and my artistic installations achieved success in international festivals such as Edinburgh International Film Festival, Punto de Vista, Doc Lisboa, L´Alternativa, IndieLisboa, and in museums such as Pompidou Centre of Paris, Pompidou Centre of Malaga, Palais de Tokyo, etc.
I work as Director of photography at multiple productions. Several of these works has been selected in festivals as Locarno, Rotterdam, Hot doc´s, Visions du Réel, IDFA, Torino Film Festival, Documenta Madrid, Jilhava...etc.
